Statement on Political Violence

Hello several news outlets have reached out for comment on how we feel about recent political events leading to violence. Please read our full statement here:

"The Cache County Democrats condemn violence of any kind, including political violence. While the investigation is still ongoing and motive has not been determined yet, it has become a sad state of our politics when we can't disagree on policy without the threat of violence. Hate has been growing in our country for some time as you have seen in violent acts from kidnapping attempts on governors, threats to Supreme Court justices, to violence perpetrated on family members of elected officials, There are hate filled editorials being published across news outlets weekly. Violence and any threats of violence need to stop and we need to get back to a place where we can find common ground and compromise. Joe Biden has proven to be a voice of compassion and love in difficult times like this and we join with him and all Democratic elected officials who have condemned the violence and we wish Donald Trump a quick recovery and safety for all candidates and elected officials going forward. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the family of the victim who died and wish a speedy recovery to the other attendees who were harmed and recovering. Let's use this moment to recommit ourselves to civility and respect in our politics and to making our country a safer place to live without the constant threat of gun violence"
