Cache Democrats Demand Equality and Respect for Everybody living in Cache County: Complete fairness and equality should be available to all people regardless of one’s race, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, national origin, language spoken, ethnicity or religious beliefs. We believe that under the law, all people should be treated as equals. We champion diversity, for our diversity is what makes this country great. All people have the right to live their lives in peace and harmony.
Cache Democrats Believe in an Economy That Works for All: We support job creation through Cache Valley’s traditional economic drivers, including sustainable agriculture , manufacturing and support of Utah State University, while expanding industries such as technology, renewable energy, and tourism. We support effective public transportation, modern telecommunications, public infrastructure, and fair and affordable housing. We support a living wage to level the playing field for all families and to lessen the effects of poverty on residents of Cache County. We support equal pay for equal work, especially in regards to our working women of color.
Cache Democrats Believe in Being Good Stewards: Climate change and our environment need to be at the forefront of our local policy. We support a move towards more use of affordable renewable energy sources. We support innovation to protect our children from our terrible air quality. We believe in our wild, public lands and the use and preservation of these places. We believe that we can improve our local infrastructure without damaging the beauty that is Cache Valley. We support the creation and better access to walking/biking paths/trails throughout the County. We also support the increase of access to our free public transportation service.
Cache Democrats Believe in Better Public Education: Public education must begin during early childhood and continue through higher education. We commit to providing high quality instruction for Cache Valley students by supporting our teachers and staff –including competitive compensation. Public school curricula should prepare our students for the 21st century world. Affordable post-secondary education, including two- and four-year colleges, vocational and technical schools, and universities, that provides a pathway for students to graduate debt-free, is essential to all residents of Cache County regardless of age. Investment in public schools and libraries must be appropriate, stable, and uniform throughout the county and support infrastructure needs.
Healthcare for All: Cache Democrats believe that every person has the right to quality healthcare. While the ACA was not perfect, it needs to be protected and expanded so that every American has coverage. For too long, the lack of adequate coverage has been a handcuff or source of extreme stress for the American people. By providing healthcare coverage for all people, we will be able to take care of the neediest Americans, while at the same time we will invite creativity and innovation by allowing Americans to take risks that they might have otherwise avoided because of a lack of medical care.
