Nancy Huntly and Andrea Thompson working in the Flores Family Garden on Saturday May 3, 2025.

First, if you had not heard, the Cache Democrats leadership were reelected for another term at our County Convention on March 22nd. Shannon Rhodes, Rhonda Wright, Andrea Thompson, and Jon Ahlstrom will serve again as Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer. In addition, the executive committee voted to expand the committee. We have added some additional positions to help meet our goals for this term. Brian Jurena, the past chair will continue to serve on the committee. New positions were also added and the following coordinator positions were filled: Travis Marble will serve as our communications coordinator, Nancy Huntly and Mary DaSilva will serve as co-coordinators for our Community Outreach, including parades, community events, and our service projects, and Matthew Weeks will serve as our Volunteer Coordinator. We are still looking for interested individuals to serve as our Fundraising Coordinator and Young Democrats Chair. Please email us if you might be interested in learning more about these positions cachedems@gmail.com.

Second, we would like to thank all who came to the Flores Family Community Garden for our service project on Saturday, May 3rd. It was a beautiful day to work outside. It was fun to talk, work together, and we were able to get a lot of work done for the garden. We also were treated to a barbecue lunch and conversation with the Flores’s and others who were working at the Garden - thanks to the Flores Family for their hospitality! We are planning to have a work-service project each month. Our first project was at the Cache Valley Humanitarian Center, where we helped make sleeping mats that were provided to the William A. Burnard Warming Center. We plan to sign up in October to provide for two Logan Loaves and Fishes community dinners in the coming year. We also plan to schedule a time with the Cache Community Food Pantry and are looking for other places where a group of people working together for 2-3 hours can help our community. If you have ideas of other places that might welcome a Cache Democrats work-service project, please let us know your suggestions. Our theme for the year is community over chaos. We want to remind those in our community that democrats are not the enemy, we are their friends and neighbors and while there is chaos in DC, we can serve and make our community better and stronger.

A great video some volunteers put together for the service project and rally on May 3, 2025

Third, please watch this great video that was put together by some volunteers of the events we have been a part of recently. We want you involved with us and we would love for you to join some of us at the Black and White Days parade in Richmond this Saturday, May 17th at 5PM. Please email cachedems@gmail.com or our volunteer coordinator matthew.weeks8@gmail.com if interested in joining us to walk or ride in the parade.

Fourth, our friends at the Cache Refugee and Immigrant Connection could use some support as a lot of their funding has been affected by the Trump administration's policies. CRIC does so much for our community neighbors and now they need our support. They are having a fundraiser and showing a movie on Friday. See all the information below. Consider attending, but if you can't you can always donate to them at https://cacherefugees.org/

Lastly, we are hoping that some of you reading this email will think about running for municipal races in your local city. Filing for that is the first week of June for all cities in Cache County. If you would like more information or unsure where to start reach out to us. We will be hosting some candidate trainings soon. The first place that change can happen is at the local level. All you need is to be willing and care about your community.
