Call for Delegates

Hello,

First, let me thank all of you that have attended our Caucus night and Convention. We are grateful for the support you provide to the party. Also, I need to clarify that at both caucus and convention, I had told people that state convention was going to be a hybrid meeting. That had been what had been initially stated, over the last week though I have learned that due to the many breakouts into congressional districts to do multi county races and other business at convention that is not going to be a possibility. If you are a delegate, you will still get a ballot virtually if you register and will be able to vote without even being at the convention, but we are encouraging delegates to attend in person if possible. Again, state convention is being held at Cottonwood High School (5715 S 1300 E, Murray) on April 27th, from 8 AM to 5 PM(or until business is complete). It should not be later than 3PM is what I have been told. You can find a tentative agenda here https://www.utahdemocrats.org/2024-state-convention. If you can only make it for half of the day that will be okay as well. If you can not make it then please look into the candidates and be informed as to who you feel will best represent you and your community before casting your votes. Most important thing you need to do is vote.

Second, we do still have about 20 at large delegate slots that are open if you are interested in being a delegate but couldn't make it to the caucus or convention. I think there are misconceptions about being a delegate for the party and I want to clear it up by saying this is a good place to begin if you are wanting to be involved. Delegates are only required to 1. become familiar with Democratic issues and candidates. Candidates may contact you to gain support. It is important that you be well informed so you can make intelligent choices. Remember, you represent the other Democrats in your precinct. A well-informed delegate, capable of making knowledgeable decisions, is essential for the success of the democratic process 2. attend convention, and 3. vote. It is not a very time consuming thing so if life is busy this is one way you can be involved with little time commitment.
